The team

  • Dr. Marta Gangolells, principal investigator for this proposal and Full Professor in the Department of Project and Construction Engineering (DEPC) at UPC. Her research focuses on buildings’ energy efficiency and sustainability metrics (e.g. LCA). She will oversee project management and dissemination (WP1 and WP6), reference building identification and modelling (WP2) and evaluation climate resilient strategies’ effects on energy performance and thermal comfort (WP3).
  • Dr.  Blanca Tejedor  is the co-principal investigator and Associate Professor in the DEPC-UPC. Her areas of expertise include infrared thermography for building diagnosis and indoor thermal comfort modelling. She will lead WP4 (Testing selected strategies in real buildings) and will be involved in all other WPs, leading some of the tasks.
  • Dr. Miquel Casals is Full Professor, director of the DEPC-UPC and coordinator of the GRIC since the beginning. He will lead WP5 aimed at developing a decision-making model for optimized climate-resilient retrofitting.
  • Dr. Santiago Gassó, Full Professor in the DEPC-UPC. He was co-leader of the Modelling and Environmental Technology (MTA) research group and coordinator of the Air Quality group of the Department of Earth Sciences at BSC-CNS. He also led the quality-awarded PhD Programme in Environmental Engineering. He will lead the generation of future weather files (WP3).
  • Dr. Oriol Pons, PhD in Architecture and Full Professor in the Department of Architectural Technology at UPC. His research includes building envelope technologies and urban agriculture. He will be involved in the technical WPs and lead the definition of climate-resilient strategies and corresponding technical feasibility (T3.1 and T5.2).
  • Dr. Xavier Roca is an Associate Professor. He is an expert in construction materials, techniques, and systems. He will participate in all WPs and lead the task related to the selection of real buildings (T4.1).
  • Dr. Rubén Daniel López, Assistant Professor in the DEPC-UPC. His main areas of interest are machine learning and structural rehabilitation. He will lead data acquisition system deployment (T4.3).
